AISLING: BREATH OF THE NEW CREATURE by A.E. Jürgens Review

Before I dive into this incredibly exciting book review, I’d like to briefly go over my reading journey.

I loved reading when I was growing up. Absolutely loved it, and I demolished books my entire elementary to high school career. I probably should have majored in something book related but here we are. Once I got into my senior year of high school, and going into college, I didn’t have as much time to read and my reading slowly dwindled down to nothing at all. Last year I put my foot down and said dang it, I’m going to get into reading again! So I picked up Harry Potter and BAM off I went.

I bring this up because besides Harry Potter, Throne of Glass, and A Court of Thrones and Roses, I tend to read your average fantasy books. Easy to understand, phenomenal world building, but honestly? Aisling is on another level. In my new book worm journey from all of last year to now, I haven’t yet delved into an incredibly intricate and high fantasy book, until now. I couldn’t think of a better book to get me into it.

Breathtakingly Beautiful World Building; A Must Read

As I said above, I have only read your entry level, kind of basic fantasy books. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not knocking other fantasy books by any means. I still love all of them and they have a special place in my heart, but this type of writing that I encountered in Aisling was absolute breathtaking, and one of a kind.

I first had the pleasure of meeting A.E. Jürgens on TikTok. I, for the life of me, can’t remember if she found me, or I found her. If I think about it I believe it was the latter. She had posted a video about writing her own book, and the entire process, and whenever someone posts aesthetically pleasing videos like that I’m immediately hooked.

I said YOLO, ordered her book, and put it at the top of my TBR. My life has been turned upside down since starting a new job, and my reading time has been scarce. But I refuse to let it die entirely, so I’ve worked on balancing all the things I love to make sure I can still do them all. I read Aisling over a series of days, including my hour lunch break, and staying up until almost 2AM (EDT) to finish it. It was that good and I refused to go to bed until I had answers.

She had a way of pulling you into this world she had created, and never wanting to leave. Aisling and Lir are fantastically written characters with an incredible depth to them, and we are just scratching the surface of what’s to come for them.

A.E. is currently working on the second book in the trilogy, and often posting teasers, which I live for, to her Instagram account. She also recently posted her special edition hardcover of Aisling which I am DYING to get my hands on.

It has been an honor to read this book, and be able to post this review. If you’re looking for a book with/about:

  • A mortal princess married to the enemy
  • The mythic Fae King of the forest
  • She must leave her home of iron and fire behind
  • As the Fae King introduces her to his world of bloodlust, magic, and adventure
  • It’s in this quest, Aisling must become as ruthless, as hungry, as wild, and as powerful as the Fae themselves

And with:

  • High Fantasy
  • Fae
  • Enemies to Lovers (YES)
  • Anti-Heroine
  • Slow burn (ya’ll I mean SLOW; A.E. has me in a chokehold)
  • Celtic Mythology
  • Epic Adventure
  • A killer cliffhanger

Seriously, if you’re about any of the above, check it out now! Below are the links to A.E.’s social media accounts, as well as the link to buy the book as well!
