4 Thriller books for ‘Verity’ lovers

Thrillers have always caught my attention but I never read them because I know I will miss the romance in them. One day, I read Verity by Colleen Hoover and I was blown away by the story and twists. My love for this book started my quest to find more books like Verity: thriller, a twist or more, romance and spice (I donโ€™t need the books to be overly spicy but Iโ€™m in a phase of my life where I like to have this a touch of reality).

Thrillers with these requirements seem to be hard to find but, luckily, I have four book recommendations that will take you back to such thrilling experience. Some are more about twists, others are more focus on the suspense and cryme.

  • In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead

Six friends. One college reunion. One unsolved murder.
A college reunion turns dark and deadly in this chilling and propulsive suspense novel about six friends, one unsolved murder, and the dark secrets theyโ€™ve been hiding from each otherโ€”and themselvesโ€”for a decade.
Told in racing dual timelines, with a dark campus setting and a darker look at friendship, love, obsession, and ambition, In My Dreams I Hold A Knife is an addictive, propulsive read you wonโ€™t be able to put down. (ยฉ Goodreads blurb)

About the book: thriller, romance, love triangle, second-chance, dark academy setting, lies and secrets.

  • Does It Hurt? by H. D. Carlton

Who am I?
I’ve forgotten the answer to that question long ago. Ever since I ran from that house, so desperate to escape, I left with only the clothes on my back and socks on my feet. After that day, I’ve only ever walked in stolen shoes.
Now, I’m a girl who’s seeking refuge in a decrepit lighthouse with a man who loathes me almost as much as he craves me. He wants to hurt me, but the old caretaker of the abandoned island may have intentions far more sinister.
It’s no longer a question of who I am, but rather, will I survive? (ยฉ Goodread blurb)

About the book: thriller, romance, forced proximity, one bed, enemies with benefits, survival, very spicy.

  • The Drowned Girls by Loreth Anne White

But Detective Angie Pallorino never forgot the violent rapist who left a distinctive calling cardโ€”crosses etched into the flesh of his victimโ€™s foreheads. Angieโ€™s forays into the mind of a monster shake lose some unsettling secrets about her own past…
